چکیده
Chest trauma is classified as blunt or penetrating, with being the cause of most thoracic injuries (90%). The main difference in penetrating opening cavity, created either by stabbing gunshot wounds, which absent chest trauma. Following head and extremities injuries, Blunt are third common injury polytrauma patients. Assessment patients clinical radiographic finding suggestive pneumothorax, rib fractures, effusion suspected lung injuries. A cases 100 were included study age group between 18-49 years. Patients referred from centre due to road traffic accidents high velocity hospital staff collects data all who transferred-into Pneumothorax was detected 28 patients, 19 had associated fracture 11 pleural effusion. subcutaneous emphysema .In underlying parenchymal present. Hemothorax 15 on CT scan. Pneumomediastinum 3 while pneumopericardium not seen any case. Pulmonary contusion Computed Tomography (CT) Scan modality choice for rapid assessment emergency where abdominal can be scanned one sitting sensitivity specificity.

The use of chest computed tomography versus chest X-ray in patients with major blunt trauma.
INTRODUCTION Computed tomography (CT) scans are often used in the evaluation of patients with blunt trauma. This study identifies the clinical features associated with further diagnostic information obtained on a CT chest scan compared with a standard chest X-ray in patients sustaining blunt trauma to the chest. METHODS A 2-year retrospective survey of 141 patients who attended a Level 1 trau...
متن کاملroutine chest computed tomography and patient outcome in blunt trauma
conclusions performing the routine chest ct in high-energy blunt trauma patients (with a mean injury severity of 9), although leading to the diagnosis of some occult injuries, has no impact on the outcome and does not decrease the in-hospital stay and icu admission time. it seems that performing the routine chest ct in these patients may lead to overtreatment of nonsignificant injuries. the dec...
متن کاملRoutine Chest Computed Tomography and Patient Outcome in Blunt Trauma
BACKGROUND Computerized Tomography (CT) scan is gaining more importance in the initial evaluation of patients with multiple trauma, but its effect on the outcome is still unclear. Until now, no prospective randomized trial has been performed to define the role of routine chest CT in patients with blunt trauma. OBJECTIVES In view of the considerable radiation exposure and the high costs of CT ...

methods retrospective cohort study of blunt trauma patients with rib fractures at a level i trauma center that had both a cxr and a ct chest. the ct finding of ≥ 3 additional fractures in patients with ≤ 3 rib fractures on cxr was considered clinically meaningful. student’s t-test and chi-square analysis were used for comparison. results we identified 499 patients with rib fractures: 93 (18.6%)...
